New Arts Center Opens in Historic Al Qattara Oasis

The Al Qattara Arts Center in the city of Al Ain was opened with traditional fanfare on March 29 by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The art center is located in a fully renovated historic fort in the Al Qattara oasis.

The opening was celebrated with the Center’s first exhibition entitled ‘4 Decades’. This pivotal exhibition features paintings by 28 leading Emirati artists whose careers span from the 1970s up to the present. The visually stunning exhibition was curated by Sumayya Mohd Alsuweidi (pictured on the right) who is an artist in her own right and Art Liaison Supervisor for the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

Move One’s Fine Art division was proud to be a part of the exhibition team, having successfully completed packing, transporting and installation of the 28 paintings in the new art center. Our team received high praise for their professional art handling skills.

The focus of the Al Qattara Arts Center will be on Emirati art, heritage and culture. As well as exhibition space the facility also contains studio classrooms for painting, pottery and photography.
Design and renovation of the old fort and its striking transformation into a modern art facility was completely implemented by ADACH.
