Safwan Dahoul Live from Ayyam Gallery

Ayyam Gallery is pleased to announce the launch of “Safwan Dahoul Live from Ayyam Gallery Damascus,” a new video stream that will run daily 12-5 pm GMT live from the gallery studio of prominent Syrian painter’s Safwan Dahoul. Available through ayyamgallery.com, this live video stream will provide a fascinating view of the artist in action as he completes three large-scale works, one of which will premiere at this year’s installment of Art Dubai in March.

Utilizing the Ayyam Gallery’s 5,000 sq foot exhibition space, Dahoul will work throughout the month of February, as his laborious process of painting is documented in candid detail for the first time in his decades-long career. From the early stages of sketching his composition onto the canvas to his final application of medium, viewers will be able to follow the unfolding of his celebrated approach firsthand, creating a sort of window into the artist’s creative world.

Initiated on the heels of his blockbuster solo exhibition at Ayyam Gallery, Dubai (DIFC) which opened in January, Dahoul’s residency returns the artist to the studio as he continues to expand upon a recent body of work and delves further into his monumental ‘Dream’ narrative.

The video stream is active 12-5 pm daily GMT. Click Here For Live Video Feed .

After graduating from the Faculty of Fines Arts in Damascus at the top of his class in 1983, Safwan Dahoul (who was born in Hama, Syria in 1961) went on to receive a scholarship to study abroad from the Ministry of Higher Education in 1987, obtaining a doctorate from the Higher Institute of Plastic Arts in Mons in 1997. Since then he has participated in international art fairs, and solo and group exhibitions throughout the Middle East, Europe and the US. Among the highest grossing Middle Eastern artists to date, his outstanding auction sales and blockbuster shows with Ayyam Gallery have made him widely popular with regional and international collectors alike.
