Q Is there a law as to how many checks the landlord can ask for?

A There is no law on the number of cheques a landlord can ask for but a tenant can get a better price if they are prepared to pay with one cheque. For properties in highly sort after areas where the average annual rent is relatively high landlords usually ask for 1 – 2 cheques, and for areas like International City, JLT or Discovery Gardens (where the average annual rent is less) the majority of landlords will take upto 12 cheques.
