My husband and I have just moved to Dubai with our 5 month old baby. I’m the worker and my husband is the stay-at-home-dad. He is really keen to join some playgroups, as our baby is very sociable and thrives on people contact. The problem is that the only playgroups he has found so far are run by mothers who meet in ladies only parks. Are there any dad-friendly playgroups?
Has he joined Dubai Dads Club? This offers a great on-line meeting point for Dads where they can exchange information etc. Your husband may enjoy taking your child to activity based groups such as Dubai Family & Friends which hosts “Junior Jingles” for babies, joining a baby swimming club like Active Sports water babies group and gymnastics for babies with Little-Gym which does a sessions for parent & child 4months to 3 years. They may also enjoy a visit to My Favourite Things which has a soft play area for children aged 0 – 3 years and Peekaboo that has a jam packed timetable of activities for parent and baby. After all this activity he may appreciate a sit down and will be more than welcome at any of the playgroups – check out our playgroup directory.
If any of our readers know of any other “Dad Friendly Play Groups” that would be of interest to this father we would love to hear from you.
I share your husband’s frustration, I am a new mum + will return to work in a couple of months, I tried setting up a group for working mums AND dads/non working too, but received no interest. I much prefer an open group that is not clicks and that is there to really help parents talk, socialise and share tips and info. Please feel free to contact me on harbour01@excite.com
I am looking for music and gym group in either Umm al Quwain or Sharjah for a 6 month old.
