Ask Louise
I arrived in Dubai 3 months ago. My second daughter is in Nursery. So I have to register her for primary school for the coming semester. As you know, most of the schools are full. Actually, my daughter can’t speak English. Could you recommend some Kindergartens for me? I’m worried about it. In addition, I’m living in Dubai Marina. Please give me advice.
I would encourage you to apply to the Taaleem Group of Schools as they have an excellent programme for children that do not have English as a first language. They have support throughout the school for this. Taaleem operate Uptown Primary School in Mirdif, Greenfield Community School in the Green Community, Dubai British School in The Meadows, Jumeirah Baccalaureate School in Jumeirah and Al Mizhar American Academy in Al Mizhar. Please understand at this late stage you may not get into the school that is nearest to the Marina, which would be Dubai British School, so you should anticipate some travel. I would also strongly recommend you enroll your child into English lessons from now until the start of term. Courses can be found at language schools such as Eton Institute who run intensive summer workshops for children.
