Q I have a 12 year old son who sits at home on his Playstation, X Box or mobile. He’s not interested in football, rugby or the conventional sports but I want to get him out mingling with other kids. I’m sure i could get him into something but it needs to be “COOL” so he can brag about it to his mates…kids of today huh!! Is there cool stuff like skydiving or racing or polo for kids, in the UAE? A This is a fantastic time of year to get him out of the house and away from the Playstation. He could take up surfing with lessons  or sticking to the sea take up wake boarding (my 12 year old loves this). Many of the hotels do this or it is also available now at the public beaches but you could make a trip down to the Umm Al Quwain Marine Club where you can learn for a cheaper price than in Dubai. Snow skiing or snowboarding (cooler for a 12 year old) is also available here in Dubai at Ski Dubai. All those skills he has perfected on his Playstation can be put into use at the Golf & Shooting Club in Sharjah where they have shooting lessons. Or how about learning to Go-Kart at the autodrome . Polo lessons can be taken at the Polo Club. Hope some of these suggestions will help in getting him out and about.
