Ask Louise
Q Hi Louse – My adopted son (he was born in Ethiopia but is now U.S. Citizen and lives in Venice, California) is going to Ethiopia for a wedding – he is leaving LAX Mon. afternoon (May 2) – flying on Arab Emirates from LAX to Dubai. As part of the ticket he stays one night in Dubai – the next morning he flies from Dubai to Addis Ababa. He is very short on funds. I was hoping you you would a suggestion as to what he could do the few hours he is in Dubai the night he arrives so he could see the city. And do you know of a guide or a friendly person who could take him around? He is extremely nice and a wonderful person. He is 35. I hope you get this in time. Thank you. Judy in Santa Monica, California.
A I would recommend he takes the “Big Bus Tour”. They offer an Airport Tour which is designed specially for people in transit. It is a 2 hour tour departing from Terminal 1 and 3 taking in all Dubai highlights: Garhoud Bridge, Wafi & Raffles Pyramids, Dhiyafah Street, Jumeirah Mosque, Jumeirah Beach Road, Burj Al Arab, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Views of the Palm and Atlantis Hotel, Ski Dubai, Burj Khalifa, Sheik Zayed Road, Downtown Bur Dubai, Dubai Creek, Al Maktoum Bridge, Deira City Centre. It costs Dhs 110 and tickets can be bought at the sales counters in the concourse.
