Ask Louise | Where to Live in Dubai – Al Barsha, Tecom or JLT?
I work in Al Barsha 2. My wife and kids, 2 years and a newborn will be shifting in with me early next year. I am struggling to decide on settling down at Al Barsha, Tecom or JLT. My wife prefers JLT because the facade looks good, and due to the close proximity to the beaches. I on the other hand, prefer to get it in Al Barsha to be able to walk to office. I intend to get a car eventually, but am waiting for my emirates ID to do the conversion. I am keen to find a place that is nearby to the Metro and has Nurseries nearby for my eldest kid. My budget is 75K.
I would suggest you stick with Al Barsha as in this area you will be able to find accommodation within your budget – it will be hard to find a 2 bedroom in Tecom and JLT for AED 75,000. Al Barsha is convenient for public transport including the metro and bus. It has some great parks for your kids to enjoy and of course is in walking distance to Mall of Emirates. The area is also served by many nurseries and supermarkets including Carrefour, Union Co-Op and Spinneys plus there are lots of great take-away restaurants in the area. A short taxi ride bus or Metro followed by the new tram will take you to the beaches. Importantly, Al Barsha is also served by two hospitals – Saudi German and Al Zahra
