What’s On | May, 2013 | Dubai, UAE|

There’s never a dull moment in Dubai. One of the best things about living in our fair Emirate is that throughout the year, on any given day, there is always something new or exciting to see and do. Whether it is the official opening of yet another world’s largest for Dubai, an annual festival, a street parade or a market fair there is bound to be something that tickles your fancy.

For the 4th year running Ignite fitness & wellness will raise funds for Breast Cancer by hosting a family Swim:Run event at Atlantis Aquaventure on The Palm.

Starting with 400m swim and a 1.6km run all participants will get a free T-shirt, goodie bags, full day access to aquaventure and the afternoon treasure hunt at Atlantis. Read more

Bringing up teenagers in any city in the world has it’s trials and tribulations but for a huge expat community being a parent of a teenager suddenly means a whole new set of responsibilities. And while our children were little, no one will deny that having a maid to help out with the domestic drudgery meant we had more time to explore stimulating classes and play sessions but no amount of staff (well maybe a driver would help!) can provide respite from the often fraught path of teenage life.

Many of us have spent part of our summers back in our home countries where often teenagers can dress differently, behave differently, speak differently and importantly the repercussions of their behaviour are dealt with differently by the authorities than they are here. That’s not to say one system is better than the other, there are problems everywhere but this is where we live so we need to work within the confines of the norms here. Read more
