Areas to Cycle in Dubai

cycling-in-dubaiIf you are a cycling enthusiast living or relocating to Dubai you will be pleased to learn there are places to cycle in this city that are geared towards to cyclist rather than the large 4×4 vehicles that usually grace our roads.

Nad al Sheba Cycle Path

This has been built on the old camel track in Nad al Sheba with the spectacular back drop of Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai.  There is a choice of an 8km, 6km and 4km cycle loop all of which are flood-lit enabling cyclists to use the facility in the evening which is important when the weather heats up.  The track comes with services such as changing rooms, toilets, showers and lockers enabling you to pop down after work.

For the children there is also an 850-metre children’s proficiency course. The track for children (4-14 years old) has street signs, speed bumps and roundabouts to teach youngsters about road safety.

The track is located in the area opposite the Meydan Hotel.

Al Qudra Cycle Path

Located just past Arabian Ranches and Dubai Equestrian & Polo club lies the new Al Qudra Cycle Path which allows the enthusiast to cycle a staggering 90km.  The path starts after the first roundabout on the Al Qudra road after the Bypass Road and leads up to the intersection with Bab Al Shams Road where it then follows a loop through Dunes and past the Bab Al Shams hotel (good refreshment stop!).

If you would like to join a group, clubs such as Cycle Safe organises rides on the Al Qudra track.

Dubai Autodrome

Cyclists of all levels can visit the Dubai Autodrome on Wednesday nights to exercise in a safe environment. This initiative by Cycle Safe Dubai (sponsored by Spinneys) has created a unique platform for family and friends to cycle, run, walk or roller-blade together in a safe, secure and challenging environment.

Remember – No Helmet, No Ride!

Every Wednesday at the Dubai Autrodrome  18:00 to 21:00 – check with Cycle Safe that it is on each week.

The Dubai Autodrome is located in Motorcity.
