When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
I moved here 7 years ago when being recruited by the Jumeirah Group. However, after 2 years working for them and turning 30, I thought it was the right moment to work for myself.
Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
I was very fortunate to travel with my job. So lived in London for 3 years, 2 years in Honolulu, HI, and another 3 years in Dublin, Ireland
The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai:
My sister was already living here before i moved, so I had a good insight on everything.
What surprised you most about Dubai?
Everyone was telling me how hot it will get in June/July but you will only believe it once experienced.
What area do you live in?
Business Bay
If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
My wife and I love our home. Maybe just an upgraded version of our existing apartment – but that about it.
Your favourite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far:
achi – brother
That single word makes suddenly many things happen.
Your least favourite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai:
None
What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
Opening my businesses. The process before and the daily continuation of making it work.
Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
I am taking my wife to Munich for Christmas to a small Spa Hotel. There is nothing better than Germany ver Christmas. Its everyone’s must to see the Christmas markets once a lifetime.
Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My parents of course! However, as Dubai is a beautiful place with Sun and Beaches, they also make the most out of it and visit regularly.
What is your favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Has to be Zuma in DIFC
What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?
You can’t beat German freshly baked Rolls – just not the same here.
When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
Nasimi is a must but for sure Dubai Mall.
