Dubai Expat Interview – Ingi Elazizi

This week’s Into-yous features Egyptian expat Ingi Elazizi.

When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
I came to Dubai two months ago.

Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
No, this is my first time in Dubai and my first experience as an expat.

The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai
The best advice I was given is, give it time – time to settle and get over the homesickness.

What surprised you most about Dubai?
Obtaining a Driving License was more difficult here than I thought.

What area do you live in?
Downtown Dubai.

If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
I have no idea yet, as I haven’t been here long enough to make an informed decision.

Your favourite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far
Arabic is my mother tongue.

Your least favourite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai
I am keeping that one to myself!

What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
I haven’t done a lot of sight seeing yet, as I have been getting my legal papers and personal administration sorted.

Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Egypt.

Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My Mom.

What is your favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Trader Vic’s!

What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?
Local cheese’s.

When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
Madinat Jumeirah.
