This week’s Into-yous features Egyptian/Spanish expat Sarah Abdel Gawad

Tell us a little about yourself:
A professional and qualified Synchronised swimming coach launching ‘Synquatics‘ in Dubai for the very first time. I participated in the 2000 Olympic games as well as several World Cups and am a qualified English Secondary teacher as well.

When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
I moved last year due to my husbands job.

Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
Yes, I moved to the UK in 2004 and lived there for seven years

The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai:
Stay indoors during the summer!

What surprised you most about Dubai?
How much I am enjoying it- great lifestyle!

What area do you live in?
Dubai Marina

If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
I would still live in Dubai Marina

Your favourite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far:
I already speak fluent Arabic

Your least favourite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai:
None

What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
Fine dining in Dubai

Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Italy

Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My parents

What is your favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Pai Thaiin Madinat Jumeirah

What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?

Parsnips

When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
The beach and Aquaventure water park
