Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, I am an Insurance Consultant, also a Housewife and mother of a 3 year old son. I have been in Dubai for three and a half years.
When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
I came to live in Dubai after my marriage in 2008.
Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
Dubai is my first experience of being an expat.
The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai
The best advice I could offer is give expat life a go. We have met with so many expats from different parts of the world. Start spreading love and friendship and embrace different cultures. Live your life as you wish but in the proper manner.
What surprised you most about Dubai?
In India, mostly people think that there are too many restrictions and boundaries for women. Here, the scene is totally different. Hats off to the government managing all aspects of life here very well, as well as giving respect and importance to each and everyone, especially women.
What area do you live in?
When I first lived in Dubai I lived in The Greens and now we live in Bur Dubai.
If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
Back in the Greens! I love that area of Dubai.
Your favorite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far?
Habibi and Khallas!
Your least favorite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai?
Impossible!
What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
Mall of the Emirates, when my husband and I first visited The Sizzlers restaurant. We also go to the lake in the Greens and spent time together after work. Greenery everywhere, what a view!
Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Malaysia.
Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My Father and my Mother.
What is your favorite restaurant in Dubai?
Chilli’s and Caesars.
What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?
A few vegetables and pulses we can’t get here.
When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
Mall of the Emirates.
