When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
In 2001 to start a television station.

Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
Yes, in the UK (1987 – 88) and the US (1985 – 86).

The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai
Embrace the multi-cultural environment with open arms – there is no other place in the world with so many different nationalities and cultures living together in harmony.

What surprised you most about Dubai?
That the above is actually true.

If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
On a horse farm in the desert about 1 hour from town.

Your favorite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far
Shukran.

Your least favorite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai
Yalla!!!

What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
Getting my television station on air!!

Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
USA.

Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My most favourite people are with me in Dubai.

What is your favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Patan – it’s a small Afghan restaurant in Al Qouz serving the most delicious “chapli (flat) kebabs” in Dubai.

What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?
None – I get everything here!!!

When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
The desert – it is magnificent.
