Dubai Expat Interviews – Salim Mohammed
This week’s Into-yous features Indian expat Salim Mohammed

I was born in Sharjah and completed my graduation in India. After a splendid 3 years of professional life in Infosys as a Software Engineer I came back to the UAE along with my family. Currently working as an IT Analyst for a private firm here.
When did you move to Dubai and what brought you here?
Dubai is the fastest developing country I have seen. Having a reasonable population when compared to India, it has maintained its development strategy in all concerns. I am sure that I will achieve my dreams here.
Have you been an expat elsewhere and if so, where?
No.
The best advice you were given to prepare you for life in Dubai
The best advice I have always got is to ‘keep trying.’
What surprised you most about Dubai?
To be honest I believe that the government and the local bodies are so logical and sensible in their administrations. Each and every Emirates has its pros and cons but all in all this is the type of lifestyle we all love to live.
What area do you live in?
I live near the corniche, Sharjah.
If money were no object, where would you most like to live in Dubai?
Obviously the Burj Khalifa, I would love to see how it feels ‘living at the top.’
Your favorite Arabic word or phrase you have learned so far

Your least favorite word or phrase you have adopted since moving to Dubai
Nothing special.
What has been your best experience in Dubai to date?
A Desert Safari with my friends and the new years bash at the Burj Khalifa.
Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Who is the person you most miss when you are in Dubai?
My friends.
What is your favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Farhat, Kaleidoscope.
What grocery item do you most miss from your home country?
None, I get more grocery items here.
When friends and family visit you in Dubai where will you absolutely take them?
Dubai Aquarium, Jabal Hafeet and Bab al Shams.
