Dubai is fortunate to have readily available an affordable taxi service. Some areas such as the Dubai Marina have taxis in the area that pedestrians can easily flag down. However, if you are staying or living in a residential compound such as Arabian Ranches or The Meadows taxis can easily be ordered by calling and scheduling a pick-up.

Compared to other large international cities taxis are affordable in Dubai. A standard flat fee of 12 dirhams is generally applied for most trips. To get from one end of the city to the other (for example, going from Dubai Marina to Dubai Creek will cost you between 55 and 65 dirhams). Taxis can be convenient when you do not want to hassle with parking and driving in congested areas. It is also a preferable method of transportation if you are enjoying an evening out and plan to partake in any libations as Dubai has a zero tolerance policy on drinking and driving.

Key Tips:
• A taxi company will record your address for future bookings.
• Allows extra time for pick-up during rush hours 8:45-9:00am and 5:00-6:00pm and during weekend evenings Thursday/Friday.
• Taxi fares can be paid by cash, debit & credit card and Nol Card
• Many drivers do not carry extra change. It is recommended to have approximate fare with you.
• Taxi fares will run between 12-40 dhs for a shorter route and 50+ dhs for longer distances.
• You can special order a 7 seat passenger taxi but it is recommended you order in advance, especially during busy evenings such as Thursday and Friday nights.
• If you have small children requiring a car seat you must bring your own as taxi companies do not provide them.
