How to Use the Public Bus
The Public Bus Transport system in the Emirate of Dubai is run by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The bus routes span the whole length and breadth the Emirate of Dubai. There are also night buses and someInter-Emirate busesfor travel to other emirates. Passengers can also obtain bus timetables, fares and connecting services either from bus stops or by calling the toll free phone 800 9090. The RTA has introduced air-conditioned bus stops to ease commuters’ lives.
You board the bus through the front door and exit through the rear door. Three rows of seats in the front of the bus are reserved for lady passengers. You are not permitted to eat, drink or smoke on the bus.
All travellers need to purchase Nol cards before stepping on the bus. Nol cards are available at RTA outlets, some bus stations and at Dubai Metro stations. You need to have this card scanned at the beginning and at the end of the journey, to ensure you pay the correct fare. If you fail to scan your Nol card before exiting, you will be charged the full fare. Dubai has been divided into five zones, with fares ranging from Dhs1.80 to a maximum of Dhs6.50 for a single journey, based on zones covered
