Age Change for UAE Learner Drivers

Teenagers in the UAE can start learning to drive before they turn 18, but will only be able to get their licence on or after their 18th birthday, a senior official at the RTA said.

The move follows requests from parents who want their children to make use of their free-time during the summer holidays, after graduating from high school, to learn to drive.

Parents had complained that by the time their children turned 18 they were already busy at university and did not have time to enrol in driving lessons, yet they needed to drive between college and home.
