Private Schools Allowed to Follow Own Holiday Schedule in Dubai

Following reports in the media last month that the Ministry of Education had ordered all schools in Dubai to follow the same academic calendar, it has now come to light that private schools in Dubai will be allowed to follow their own holiday calendars as the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has been approving requests on a case-by-case basis.

However, the schools must comply with the number of school days and school hours stipulated by the regulators. With 138 private schools following 13 curricula operating in the Emirate, KHDA acknowledges that it is necessary to cater to their varying needs, and that is why the authority has now begun to approve their requests on case-by-case basis.

    Seriously, this is crazy. My children attend the French school and their Spring break was during the last two weeks of April when there was not 2 camps running. How does this system help support working parents?
