As a non-Muslim expat relocating to Dubai, one of the many legal requirement to get organized  once you move here is to apply for a liquor license.  Whether you want to buy liquor to drink in your home or drink outside of your home the law clearly states that you MUST have an liquor license.

Restaurants, bars and cafes in hotels and clubs sell you liquor but may only ask you for proof of age (if they suspect that you are under age)  they are not obligated to ask to see your liquor license – that is your responsibility and if you get caught drinking without one you could be faced with a jail sentence and pleading ignorance is no excuse
