Dubai Economic Department is in the early stages of researching the possibility of having a pension fund for its large expatriate population.  They believe this will make Dubai a more attractive place to do business  and increase investment.

If the pension fund goes ahead Dubai would be the first city in the Middle East to have a pension fund for expatriates.  It is intended that it be for both the public and private sector and the amount taken off salaries would be in-line with international levels.  Having a pension fund will give financial and social stability to many expatriates who work here for many years but leave with no savings.
