Buying Second Hand Furniture in Dubai

second-hand-furniture-in-dubaiWhen renting a property in Dubai you will notice that unless you rent a serviced apartment most homes come rented ‘unfurnished’ or ‘partial furnished’ just with the built-in kitchen appliances such as cooker and dishwasher.  Alarm bells may start ringing at the cost of having to furnish yet another house in another country however, due to transient  nature of the expat population in Dubai there can be some really good pickings on the second hand market.

Many of the ‘communities‘ in Dubai have set up their own facebook pages and on these pages many of them have set up ‘community souk’ pages where residents buy and sell furniture, white goods, toys etc.  Other websites include Dubizzle and UAE Classifieds both which are excellent portals for buying and selling anything from a Sofa to a top of the range Ferrari.

Dubai also has its own ‘Flea Market‘. Dubai Flea Market is a second hand market where private individuals with non-commercial intention SELL & BUY everything used, from household items, home appliances, furniture, textile, ceramics, electrical equipment, toys, games, books, DVD’s, clothes, antiques, accessories etc. and handcraft. In the warmer months it operates from indoors and in the summer from locations such as Safa Park.

Other outlets for searching for second-hand goods include the notice boards at your local supermarket and Cash Converters based on Sheikh Zayed Road

If you can’t find all you need on the second hand market other shops that offer very affordable furniture include Ikea, Home Centre, Homes ‘r’ Us and Pan Emirates Furnishing.

And remember…..when you leave you can sell it all on again!
