Cost of Living in Dubai – Bathroom Items

Are you relocating to Dubai in the next few months and would like to know more about the cost of living? We bet you’re wondering what your weekly groceries will cost, how much it will cost to furnish your home and what about curtains, garden furniture etc.? Over the next few weeks we will publish informative articles to help you work out how much it will cost for you to live in Dubai.

This week, the team at Expat Echo Dubai not only took their work home with them, they took it shopping too. Far from the usual girlie outing there was no recreational meandering around the mall, instead we each set off individually and headed to a different supermarket.

What does it cost you to pick up a few essential toiletries in Dubai and does it make a difference where you shop? How much do each of the supermarkets charge for typical bathroom items and how will they fare against each other? We couldn’t just leave it there though, we then wondered how much it costs nowadays to stock the bathroom in our home countries, is it more expansive to shop for these items in Australia than it is in Dubai?

We have made a chart to compare supermarkets in Dubai, with Australia, UK, America, Europe and Canada. It is important to note that the home country prices were collected in local currencies and converted into Dirhams, which may explain why Australia appears quite expensive. This is meant as a rough guide only and for illustrative purposes.

Rexona
is known as Sure in the UK and Degree in the US and Canada. Andrex is a UK brand of toilet roll, sold in the US, Canada and Australia as Kleenex Cottonelle.
