We bet you’re wondering what your weekly groceries will cost, how much it will cost to furnish your home and what about curtains, garden furniture etc.? Over the next few weeks we will publish informative articles to help you work out how much it will cost for you to live in Dubai.

This week, the team at Expat Echo Dubai not only took their work home with them, they took it to the cinema too. Far from the usual girlie outing, dinner followed by the latest rom-com, we each set off solo and made our way to a different cinema.

What does it cost you to see the latest movie in Dubai? How about if you decide not to go with a regular cinema or standard seating? What if the movie you want to watch is showing in 3D or you opt to see it in an IMAX theatre or whilst seated in the uber plush gold class? Does it make a difference which cinema you go to? How much does the cinema’s charge for each ticket class and how will they fare against each other? We couldn’t just leave it there though, we then wondered how much it costs nowadays to go to the movies in our home countries, is it more expansive to catch the latest flick in Australia than it is in Dubai?

We have made a chart to compare cinemas in Dubai, with Australia, UK, America, Europe and Canada. It is important to note that the home country prices were collected in local currencies and converted into Dirhams, which may explain why Australia appears quite expensive. This is meant as a rough guide only and for illustrative purposes.
