It will be welcomed news to many people, like myself, who regularly pull up to a petrol station and ask for the tank to be filled, only to realise they don’t have enough cash!

There has been a gap of almost five years where customers have not been able to pay using plastic, however this is soon to end with petrol stations welcoming payment by credit card very soon.

The announcement was made recently by UAE Ministry of Economy who will meet with Visa and MasterCard to finalise the terms and conditions.

It is thought there will be a surcharge of 2AED on transactions for fuel, but no surcharge for goods purchased in the outlets.
