Dubai Internet City (DIC) was established in 2000 and has since become the Middle East and North Africa’s largest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Business Park. The IT companies based at DIC include Fortune 500 brands such as Microsoft, Dell, Intel and IBM.

By setting up a company in DIC, you will be entitled to 100% foreign ownership of the company itself and optional visa facilities. You will not face any customs duty and there is 0% income and corporation tax. There are no restrictions on labor and neither on currency. DIC is regulated by an independent government body, Dubai Technology & Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA). DTMFZA develops and implements transparent regulations, in accordance with international standards. DIC also hosts an Innovation Center/technology start-up incubator that aims to drive innovation

How to set up in this Freezone
To set up a company in DIC, you will need a business plan, passport copies, bank reference letters and CV/proof of education.

What is the timeframe?
It will take approximately 3 – 4 weeks (subject to submission of the lease agreement to the authorities and depositing the share capital in the bank) to complete the entire registration procedure and obtain the trade license from the Free Zone.

What else can you expect from this Freezone?
DIC has various retail outlets providing business support services such as banking, courier services and restaurants, accessible without having to leave the zone. TECOM’s Advertising and Venue Management Services (AVMS) exists there and offers multi-purpose venues and a wide range of advertising services.

The basic requirement for all business activity in Dubai is to receive and maintain a license under one of the following categories: commercial, professional or industrial. Within DIC, there are specific niches which exist under the umbrella of software, internet and multimedia, Telecommunication and network and IT services.
