I Am Loyal to my Amber Loyalty Card

When you move to Dubai, loyalty card offers seem to become overwhelming. There are so many at no cost with promises of big benefits that if you are not careful, you’ll have to carry a second wallet for all that extra plastic.
This morning, while looking for my UAE driving license, I thumbed through these Dubai cards that I have only started collecting since September 2010: Kidzania, Magic Planet, Costa coffee, Marble Slab, Sirius, Scoosh Juice Bar, Connector Loyalty Card, Skywards, Priority Pass, American Women’s Association Membership Card, The Nail Boutique and, of course, my coveted Amber Card.

Why the Amber Card?

When we moved here, we only brought half of our personal effects as we were splitting our home in half. I immediately hit several home furnishing shops such as Crate & Barrel and @Home where we started racking up the points. Additionally, I visit the Gap – also part of the Amber program – on a regular basis. My most recent visit to the Gap’s Mirdiff location resulted in a whopping 1400 AED total. And (drum roll), I am happy to announce that I paid the full amount with my Amber Card. No additional exchange of credit or cash was required. No paperwork to fill out. My signature and smile was sufficient which is why I am loyal to my Amber Loyalty Card.

Two additional points for members of Amber, even if you do not have your Amber card with you, the participating stores (including many car dealerships and restaurants) will be able to look it up and allocate the points. Also, by using the Amber card, you can take advantage of regular discounts.
