New driving licence test booking
Driving licence applicants can now book their test appointments under a new initiative by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). ‘Rukhsati’ (My Licence), which has been launched in coordination with driving institutes and centres, to streamline driver testing services, from booking the appointment to obtaining a driver’s licence and allows applicants to select test appointments via touch screens.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA Licensing Agency, said: “This initiative will have an obvious and substantial contribution towards meeting the needs of applicants of driver licences, and adding to their happiness through slashing the waiting time for fixing test appointments.”
Bahrozyan added that the scheme would cut down on the time spent waiting for fixing test or re-test appointments.
The initiative will also use cameras learner-driver vehicles to help identify the reasons for drivers failing the test.
“Offices will be opened in driving institutes and centres with the aim of grooming trainees for the test and eliminating test-associated phobias,” he said.
“These offices will explain the reasons for failing tests and mistakes made during tests to avoid them being repeated in the future.”
