Relief for Expats as ID Deadline Extended
The Emirates Identity Authority has extended the deadline for registering or renewing ID cards for both national and expatriate residents. However, after this deadline fines of Dhs20 a day will be implemented up to a maximum fine of Dhs1,000. The deadline set for nationals to obtain their ID cards is 31st October and for expatriates aged 15 and over living in Dubai the deadline will be June 1st 2012. The Board of Trustees of the Emirates Identity Authority also announced that all children under 15 years old, including nationals and residents, have until 1st October, 2012 to register. After that failure to do so will also land them with a Dhs20 a day fine.
