Whatever your car means to you, it is always important to look after it, maintain it and service it when needed. This way she will never let you down when you need her the most. The hot climate and sandy environment of the UAE makes it even more important to take care of your car.
Here are a few key points to consider when storing your vehicle anywhere for an extended period of time:
- Disconnect the battery: – to ensure that your car starts when you decide to use it again, and the battery hasn’t gone flat, simply disconnect the battery after parking it in its resting place. If you do not wish to disconnect the battery and you still have access to your car, ensure that you start the engine at least once a week.
- Rotate the tyres: – to avoid any flat spots while your car is being stored, make sure that the tyres are rotated regularly and not always sitting on the same spot.
- Tyre Pressure: – maintain the recommended air pressure inside your tyres at least once a week. This will not only help with the driving experience, but also help maintain the tyres life and increase fuel efficiency.
- Car Covers: – when leaving your car for an extended period of time, it is always best to cover the car with a fitted car cover, especially if the car is going to be left outside and open to the elements. This will help protect the paint from fading under the intense sun (especially of the UAE summers), protect against unwanted animal waste which can leave nasty paint scars and overall keep the car in a clean state.
