This December celebrate Christmas the German way! Eton Institute, UAE’s largest training institute is hosting an enchanting cultural evening ‘German Festive Night’ highlighting the delights of Christmas in Germany, including German traditions, celebrations and delicious delicacies.
Not only is Germany credited with starting the tradition of the Christmas tree in the 16th century, but the Advent Calendar was also a German invention, originally designed to involve children in the festivities leading up to Christmas. Jan 1, 2013: New Year’s Day paid UAE holiday for private and government sectors
Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources today issued a circular stating that January 1, 2013 – New Year’s Day – will be a holiday in the UAE.
Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour, has also issued a decision that designates Tuesday, January 1 2013 as a paid holiday for the private sector in the UAE. Work will resume on Wednesday, January 2. Read more

39 year-old American expat. Came for career but met my Husband here and had a son. I struggled with being a new mother so started a social group of mothers with like-aged children in my neighborhood. I still moderate the group and keep everyone active. Currently trying to ease my way back into work. I love Dubai but seen plenty of its ups & downs and been in them! I need to get UAE residence visa for my parents. I am a UAE resident and my brother is also on employment visa in UAE. I have rented a 2 bed room apartment and have salary of more than AED 10,000.
In this case, can I represent to DNRD that I am the sole provider of my parents? Or should I mention that me and my brother both stay in UAE and are the sole supporters (since there is no one in my home country to look after my parents. My parents are in UAE right now for visit visa. Read more
