quoz-art-festivalAlserkal Avenue and ArtintheCity are pleased to announce the third edition of the Quoz Arts Festival, the first and only arts festival of its kind in the UAE, on 8 November 2014. The community-based event returns with an expanded programme, which will offer public events spanning design, music, art and film, across 45 creative spaces in Al Quoz’s arts district. Running from 10am till 10pm, the festival is free to attend and is open to all, making it a great initiative for the community to get involved in the local arts scene.

This year’s line-up will include live art and public murals by local artists, workshops, film screenings, gallery openings, live music performances and a street food market. QUOZ Arts Festival launched last year by Alserkal Avenue and ArtintheCity in partnership with Emirates NBD, returns for its second edition on Saturday, 23 November 2013 with an expanded program and public events spanning across 32 arts spaces within art, music, design and film spectrums.

This November QUOZ will build upon its arts festival atmosphere with more public programming in partnership with Art Dubai and Dubai International Film Festival, as well as an expanded list of participants reaching 32 art, design, music and film venues with a variety of free events tailored to their programmes, and giving visitors the unique opportunity to discover the local arts scene and engage with the gallerists, artists, creatives and cultural minds alike.

The full day programme of events, which extends from 10am – 10pm will include live art on public murals by local artists, workshops, film screenings, art exhibition openings and daytime outdoor music performances, inviting the multi-cultural audience of Dubai to come together for a daytime arts festival full of cultural activities throughout Saturday. emirates_aerialsAcclaimed Middle East photography and production company, Wouter Kingma, announces first solo photography exhibition to mark the launch of the region’s inaugural on-line print store.

Between 16th and 30th September 2013, photos and a number of installations will be on display at Create! at the The Courtyard in Al Quoz, Dubai. A launch evening will take place on Monday 16th September from 7pm to 9.30pm, at which anyone is welcome to join.

The exhibition, sponsored by Canon Middle East, Audi Middle East and Sandisk, will feature images across four key themes. Arabia Arabia captures the magical and diverse sights that surround us from quaint wind towers to glitzy skyscrapers, desert camels to prayer time at the mosque. Emirates Aerials is a black and white series, all taken from an aerial position. This captivating collection portrays with perfection the UAE’s vast urban progress over the years and the iconic structures known the world over. The Movement series captures the essence of adventure and the outdoor lifestyle with a number of individuals pushing their physical and mental boundaries. Finally, the Footsteps of Thesiger series captures the Adrian Hayes expedition across the Empty Quarter to re-enact that of Wilfred Thesiger in the 1950’s. The images portray intrepid adventure, unexpected drama and humbling hospitality during the 44-day long expedition. Read more


Capsule Arts will feature unique work of 18 GCC artists; offers bespoke services to UAE residents and businesses

A new platform to buy art through a limited edition print collection and bespoke artist commissions has been launched in Dubai, supporting local artists throughout the GCC.

Capsule Arts, the brainchild of co-founders, curators and artistic entrepreneurs Deepa Bhatia and Rachael Brown, has collaborated with 18 artists from around the world, who all live, work and create art in the GCC, to launch a series of artwork for consumers and businesses to hang in their home or workplace. The Middle East’s first ever art exhibition aimed 100% at children!

The Cartoon Art Gallery has announced that it will host the Middle East’s very first art exhibition aimed at children next month. ANIMALZ – The Complete Collection by James Gaubert will launch on Sunday 17 February, and will feature over 40 oil paintings that are designed to give a child’s perspective on all the favourites from the animal kingdom, in an almost over-exaggerated, urban, cartoon state. This really is the coolest and most fun art exhibition ever to hit the Middle East!

Having exhibited at a number of galleries across the UK, British artist James Gaubert is keen to make a difference to the young art scene in Dubai following a move to the emirate last year. Read more
