messy-wardrobeAs the Festive Season fast approaches many expat families in Dubai will be preparing to move back to their own countries or may simply be taking this time to have a mass clear-out before the visitors (and Santa!) arrive.

If you have clothes, toys & books that are in good condition but you no longer require there is a charity in Dubai that is collecting these items to sell at the Dubai Flea Market this December in Zabeel Park.  The proceed from these sales will go towards supporting a charity project in the Philippines that is building a library and supporting a feeding and gift giving program.

dubai-caresVolunteer Emirates is part of a series of local initiatives launched by Dubai Cares to offer UAE residents opportunities to give back to their community here at home by dedicating their time and effort to support a worthy cause.

Dubai Cares will be organizing 4 Volunteer Emirates trips throughout the year, with each dedicated to providing the selected non-profit/charity school in the UAE with its required needs. Two trips will be organized in Quarter 2 and Quarter 4 respectively of 2014.

Dubai Cares is holding the third edition of “Volunteer Emirates 2014”, which is sponsored by Al Tayer Group, on Saturday November 1, 2014 from 8 AM – 2 PM at National Charity School in Dubai, and we’re looking for 100 volunteers to join us on the day to help us enrich the learning environment for the students.

Volunteers will be required to assist in the following areas:

Assemble over 1,000 new school desks
Renovate the school library with new educational resources
Replace existing blackboards with white boards
Build a shade roof-top
