dubai-caresVolunteer Emirates is part of a series of local initiatives launched by Dubai Cares to offer UAE residents opportunities to give back to their community here at home by dedicating their time and effort to support a worthy cause.

Dubai Cares will be organizing 4 Volunteer Emirates trips throughout the year, with each dedicated to providing the selected non-profit/charity school in the UAE with its required needs. Two trips will be organized in Quarter 2 and Quarter 4 respectively of 2014.

Dubai Cares is holding the third edition of “Volunteer Emirates 2014”, which is sponsored by Al Tayer Group, on Saturday November 1, 2014 from 8 AM – 2 PM at National Charity School in Dubai, and we’re looking for 100 volunteers to join us on the day to help us enrich the learning environment for the students.

Volunteers will be required to assist in the following areas:

Assemble over 1,000 new school desks
Renovate the school library with new educational resources
Replace existing blackboards with white boards
Build a shade roof-top

W4W-Jan 25th -30We are all worth the same amount in our humanity. The sameness project facilitates moments of sameness through online & offline social initiatives.

Following on from the success of the August initiative, The Sameness Project is looking for volunteers to join them for a morning of hot, sweaty and heartfelt fun where volunteers hand out bottles of cool water and a ton of thank you’s and handshakes to anyone working in Dubai’s heat, keeping our city built, clean and beautiful.

This is it! The last one for 2014 and we’re going all out! We were so overwhelmed with the turnout of over 500 people in August. So we’ve changed the location to accommodate such big numbers. PepsiCo have doubled the water to 10,000 bottles and Hertz have come on board to offer free cars and drivers to anyone that doesn’t have a vehicle!

Bigger Than Ever & Last of 2014! Make it count!

ramadan-charityWhile living in Dubai, Ramadan is the perfect time to get involved with local charities.  Charity is very important in Islam, and even more so during Ramadan. Zakāt, often translated as “the poor-rate,” is obligatory as one of the pillars of Islam; a fixed percentage of the person’s savings is required to be given to the poor.

Here are a few charities below that you can give to or volunteer with throughout the month of Ramadan and don’t forget to check out our Charity Directory for charities you can help out all year round. Read more
