Travelling To SA This Summer With Children? | Expat Echo Dubai
If you are travelling to South Africa this summer from Dubai are you aware of the new rules and regulations for entering the country if you are with children and not your partner?
As of tomorrow Monday, June 1, 2015, anyone arriving in South Africa in the company of a child will have to prove parenthood or guardianship, while lone adults flying in with their offspring will have to show that they have the consent of their non travelling partner, this also applies if you are travelling with a child who is not yours ie a family friend.
The change in the rules, which was supposed to come into force in October last year, was postponed by eight months, is supposedly designed to counter child-trafficking operations on the African continent.
Parents will have to be able to demonstrate that any children, aged under 18, in their company are their own, by providing their birth certificates to immigration officials, passengers may be turned away from getting on their flights too if they don’t have the correct documents.
