Popular Productions, the producers of Dubai’s biggest hit shows including Fame, Blood Brothers, Annie and Disney High School Musical are delighted to announce the return of Rodgers and Hammerstein ‘s wonderful musical The Sound of Music, back by popular demand after it’s immensely popular record breaking sell out season at The First Group Theatre, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai – earlier this year.

Considered by many to be the best-loved and most successful movie musical in history, The Sound of Music took home five Oscars, including Best Picture. Its soundtrack stands in history as the best selling musical of all time going Platinum more than 12 times. Its landmark score includes some of the most beloved songs in the American songbook including My Favourite Things, Edelweiss, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Do Re Mi, The Lonely Goatherd, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and the wonderful title song. A true and moving story, The Sound Of Music recalls the touching and dramatic memories of Maria and the Von Trapp family, and their struggle to freedom as their homeland of Austria faces up to Nazi conversion, just prior to the Second World War.

The production features lavish costumes, a sumptuous set and stars a cast of over fifty with the very best in West End and UAE talent. Starring as Maria is Lucy Hunter-James (Blood Brothers /Fame) and the cast also includes Nicholas Maude as Captain von Trapp (Phantom of the Opera, West End), Donna Hazelton as Mother Abbess (Winner of British TV’s Musicality and star of Chicago, West End), Anna Lawrence as Liesl (Oliver /The Sound of Music, West End), Alison Guill as Elsa (Phantom of The Opera The Sound Of Music, West End) and Christopher Blades (Jekyll & Hyde /Phantom Of The Opera, West End).

On the 16th November at 3pm and 18th November at 2:30pm there will be an additional matinee performance.
