Footvolley was created in Brazil, by Octavio de Moraes, in 1965 in Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach. The game began as a training exercise for soccer players by juggling the ball over soccer goals on the beach and then they decided to use the volleyball net and just like that the footvolley was born. FootVolley is among one of the fastest growing popular sports over the past few years and played according to the same field rules of beach volleyball but without using hands.
The game manages to attract many international football’s stars especially Brazilians and most notably: Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and many others. It gradually began to spread in the UAE and will feature two teams competing in the World Cup, while the Brazil, considered the cradle of the game that was launched from its beaches in 1965, will participate with four teams.
The World Cup is expected to have a total of 32 teams from 27 countries which are, along with UAE and Brazil: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile, USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, Italy, England, Czech Republic, Russia, Belgium, Estonia, France, Croatia, Portugal, Netherland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Singapore, and Thailand.
