Oktoberfest Hits Dubai

The Oktoberfest is a two-week festival held in late September and early October every year in Munich, Germany and is attended by six million people each year!  The festival has made its way to many countries around the world (often founded by German immigrants, descendants or expats).  The largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany is in Canada, in the of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario where they welcome 750,000 to  1,000,000 visitors every year.

Dubai has seen a rise in Oktoberfest celebrations over the years.  This year, marks the largest family Oktoberfest event organised by The Els Club and German Emirates Club.

Many restaurants and bars are hosting their own fun Oktoberfest events as well.

The Irish Village

Sherlock Homes English Pub
17th September – 3rd October, 2011

Oktoberfest, the 17-day festival held annually in Bavaria, Germany and one of the most famous events in the country will be celebrated with much fanfare at Sherlock Holmes English Pub in Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa, located in the heart of the ancient cultural district of Dubai. Sherlock Homes English Pub brings the world’s largest fair from Germany to Dubai marked with lots of traditional cuisine lovingly created by the property’s culinary expert. During Oktoberfest, eat, drink and dance at Hofbräuhaus for the entire month of October. Grab your pair of Lederhosen or Dirndl and celebrate with our German band, who will get you going with an exhilarating rendition of the ‘birdie dance’! While the drinks flow, enjoy a variety of traditional fare, savour the Bavarian Beef Goulash and White Sausage Dumpling in Creamy Mustard Sauce and Veal Dumplings in caper sauce. Visit the live cooking stations serving marinated meat cutlets and a variety of German sausages. Grand Hyatt
12th – 29th October, 2011

The Dubai version of the world-renowned Oktoberfest festival of German food and drink will take place from 12th to 29th October, from 7pm to 1am, and on the weekends (Thursday and Friday) until 3am, in a fully air-conditioned tent on the Grand Hyatt Dubai’s Events Lawn. Performing live on stage will be the band “Die Kirchdorfer”, well-known from the Hacker Tent at Oktoberfest in Bavaria, encouraging the crowd to sing along while toasting and dancing.

Enjoy the ever-popular Friday brunch on three consecutive Fridays (14th, 21st and 28th October) from 12.30pm to 4.30pm, at AED180 for food only.
