Runway 2015 | Fashion Event
Runway 2015 is an event that everyone is talking about and looking forward to. Held on Thursday 27th November 2014 at the Sofitel, Palm Jumeirah you will even have to travel underwater to get to this exclusive event (via a tunnel at least!) Arrive early so that you can soak up the fun atmosphere that only a carnival inspired fashion show can bring! RWD is a multi-cultural platform that has been created to feature who are hiding somewhere! This event provides the opportunity for otherwise ‘hidden’ talent to be pushed to the forefront.
Unusually the first of it’s themed kind, RWD 2015 is set to be unique. Guests will be expected to adhere to the strict black and white dress code if they wish to watch and enjoy the show without receiving a 500dhs fine. Be on the look-out for the fine-giving RWD Fashion Police! These proceedings will be donated to fashion students at the Campustar Design College featuring in the show, to help fund their studies. The monochrome dress code also serves a dual purpose in terms of bringing awareness of the preservation of the local dress; Kandora and Abaaya, the cultural attire of people in the region.
One of the key elements of this show is the Design Challenge, where seven students studying in Knowledge Village (Campustar Design College) have been short-listed to compete against each other. Aspiring candidates were given ‘carnival’ from anywhere in the world to create their designs. They were chosen from their submitted sketches, effective research and who captured the essence of this multi-cultural festivity. Designers were finally interviewed by our dedicated team to find out how passionate they were about fashion, the stories behind their collections and their inspirations. It is clear that with 5 months of relentless hard work, fierce competition that this new and up-coming talent are fully-prepared to dazzle their audience. These selected designers will debut their creations as part of the event on 27th November, where spectators will be revealed as to who has been named ‘RWD’s Next Top Designer’. The fully-fledged and publically acclaimed designer will be awarded with the honour of showcasing in RWD’s next big event as well as place them in outlets affiliated with RWD, who will support and promote their work.
Internationally recognised designers who will be amazing us with their designs include:
