Skateboarding in Dubai

New Skate Ramp Opening Launches Second Season Of Skate Lessons

As a way of launching the second season of skateboarding classes, Tashkeel will be hosting an opening event at the Tashkeel ramp in Nad Al Sheba 1, on Friday January 18th, for all to attend. The party will be in celebration of the newest addition to the city’s skating landscape, a new fully functional multi-level ramp with a number of new features to excite and inspire the skaters of the city. The launch party will host extreme sports enthusiasts, Red Bull, that will be providing entertainment, along with Tashkeel staff taking care of the cooking on an outdoor barbecue set up. Hot dogs, burgers and other party food will be available for all attendees, as well as water, juices and soft drinks.

After a successful first session of classes, 12 weeks of classes starting January 16th 2013, advance students through all levels of the activity, to provide a means in which the youth of the country can participate in a fun, engaging activity that promotes both a healthy lifestyle while simultaneously providing an alternative means in which to display creativeness in a unique physical manner.

The classes are held on Saturdays and Wednesdays between the hours of 4 to 7 pm and can be taken either as a group or individual basis. Students who enroll in classes are given their own skateboards as part of the package, in which they are free to design or decorate in any way they so wish, and workshops on painting their decks will be available under the supervision of recognized international artists. Classes are either AED 100, per session, or AED 900 for the entire 12 weeks inclusive of their own skateboard.

Members of the 2013 Tashkeel skate program will also be introduced to a brand new scheme to the skating world, established by Tashkeel, that aims to develop skateboarding from a grassroots level in which students will eventually gain the opportunity to become skate instructors themselves as a means of giving back to the community and promoting the ideals of the skate program and Tashkeel.
