Art lovers, photographers and really anybody living in Dubai should get themselves down to thejamjar in Al Quoz this week to take a look at the #soleofthecity exhibition.

#soleofthecity was a competition open to the public, from professional photographers to the casual iPhone owner. Using a mobile phone, entrants had to capture the soul of the city in a single shot that represents urban Dubai. The shots were then shared on instagram with the hashtag #soleofthecity, and the finalists are now being exhibited at the jamjar until the 6th June.

One only has to watch the daily news to see that the use of phones for capturing pictures is very popular. ‘iPhonegraphy and Instagramming is an exciting movement that is really taking off and being recognized as a bonafide photographic art form in other parts of the world. #soleofthecity is going to help foster that here in the UAE‘ says Hassan Kiyani, an award-winning Emirati filmmaker and leader in the field of iPhonography.
