What is it?
Organized by Wild Wadi Waterpark in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières, the swim will cover the 1km distance encircling the iconic Burj Al Arab. The swim is supported by main sponsor, Move One, as well as the event support partners Speedo, Premier Marathons, Volunteer in Dubai and many more. Come join us to be part of this exciting event and celebrate MSF’s 40 Years of Independent Humanitarian Action!

Categories for Registration:
Participants can choose to swim either individually, or as part of a team.

Individual swimmers need to register to swim in their respective age category:
• 20 and under Male
• 20 and under Female
• 21 to 39 Male
• 21 to 39 Female
• 40 and over Male
• 40 and over Female

Even though there will be separate prizes for the above age categories, they will all start at the same time in the same wave. This means that you can swim alongside your family and friends of any age.

For those wishing to compete as part of a team, their team must have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 members. The team swim is open to both Male and Female participants of all ages. For companies, schools and entities that want to register more than 4 participants, they are free to register as many 3 or 4 member teams as they’d like. The more teams, the more chances to win! Those wishing to be part of a team, need to register in the team category below.

Schedule on the day of the event:
When: Friday 11th November, 2011.
Where: Participants need to sign in and collect their timing chips between 6am and 7:30am outside the entrance of Wild Wadi Waterpark. The swim will start at 8 am.

Tentative Schedule:
6:00 to 07:30am Sign In – Outside Wild Wadi Waterpark
7:45am Briefing and warm up for all participants
8:00am All Ages Swim
8:20am Team Swim
9:30am Raffle and Awards Ceremony
10:30am Closing

Participation Fees:
The swim this year is priced at AED 275 for all participants. Those registering as part of a team will also pay the standard AED 275 per member.

Since this is a charity swim, we encourage participants to use the sponsorship form provided and encourage your family and friends to raise extra funds to support your swim. Some participants in the past have been extremely successful in doing so and have thus contributed a substantial amount to MSF’s humanitarian missions around the world. There is also a ‘Best Fundraiser’ prize up for grabs for the person that collects the highest amount.

MSF does not spend any funds to organize the event. The entrance fee and all other sponsorship money is treated as a donation to the charity and all other costs are covered by contributions from generous sponsors. However, MSF is charged 25% of the total proceeds by the UAE Red Crescent Society.

All participants will be timed using computerized timing chips by Premier Timing and printable individual certificates will be available online after the event.
